RESEARCH - EVALUATION - MONITORING - LEARNING - STRATEGY

Thank you for checking out my website!

I am a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow at the University of Leicester, where I lead the project Transforming LGBTIQ+ Asylum Policies: A Multi-Country Cross-Sectoral Approach to Research, Policy, and Advocacy. This fellowship examines how asylum systems reproduce exclusion and inequality for LGBTIQ+ people, and works with partners across sectors to co-design more inclusive, evidence-based policies and practices through comparative research in the UK, Europe, Mexico, Lebanon, and Kenya.

My academic work sits at the intersection of refugee and asylum studies, gender and sexuality studies, religious studies, and medical anthropology, with a particular specialism in Southeast Asian Islam. My monograph Gender, Sexuality and Islam in Contemporary Indonesia: Queer Muslims and their Allies (Routledge, 2024) offers an ethnographic account of queer Muslim subjectivities in Indonesia, and reflects my deep engagement with Islam Nusantara, queer-inclusive religious praxis, and Southeast Asian queer religious geographies.

Beyond academia, I have worked internationally as a consultant and learning partner for organisations such as the Equality and Human Rights Commission, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, ILGA, and the Kaleidoscope Trust.
